Namibia has a healthy Cape fur seal population of roughly one million individuals all along its coast. These seals are exposed to illegally abandoned fishing gear and other marine debris that entangle, torture and kill them.

Naude and Katja Dreyer established Ocean Conservation Namibia in 2020 with the primary objective to help entangled seals and other marine animals along the Namibian coast. Through observation, direct action, exposure and education OCN hopes to motivate individuals all over the world to change their own behaviour towards a sustainable future.

Between 2020 and 2022, Naude and his team rescued over 2000 seals from entanglement.

The OCN team consists of several dedicated activists led by Namibian conservationists Naude and Katja Dreyer, who started rescuing seals ten years ago at Pelican Point. Over 3 million subscribers follow OCN's daily rescue videos on Youtube, TikTok and other social media platforms. Each view, comment and share creates more awareness for our marine animals' dire situation and the general condition of our world oceans.

OCN does not receive any help from the local government, all seal rescues are funded through private donations from all over the world and the sales of merchandise. We are registered in the United States as a 501(c)3 entity under the name Ocean Conservation International. Contributions to Ocean Conservation International are tax deductible.
